Frequently Asked Questions

When comparing a sailing and a power catamaran, it’s natural to think sails are an advantage.
However, on a catamaran, that’s less true for several reasons:

  • Safety & comfort first: To avoid the risk of capsizing, naval architects deliberately reduce the sail area on catamarans.
  • Poorer performance upwind: Catamarans have less lateral resistance than monohulls and therefore don’t perform as well against the wind. They experience greater leeway and require wider tacking angles.
  • Reality at sea: Because of inconsistent wind conditions (too little, too much, or the wrong direction), most “sailing” catamarans actually use their engines most of the time.

In short, while sailing catamarans carry rigging that creates drag, a power catamaran is fully optimized for engine propulsion—delivering higher speed, lower fuel consumption, and greater comfort.

Thanks to their dual-hull efficiency, power catamarans consume significantly less fuel than monohulls.
This translates into:

  • Greater autonomy and range
  • Less dependency on harbours, allowing guests to stay at anchor as long as they wish.

A power catamaran is not only faster and smoother, it’s also more eco-efficient and cost-effective during long cruises.

A smaller catamaran, such as a 67-footer, may look appealing budget-wise, but it’s an entirely different experience.

  • On most 67-foot, 5-cabin boats, the galley is often located in the main lounge, not in a separate hull.
  • On Crazy Horse, the galley (see picture below) is fully separated, located in one of the hulls.
This design makes a huge difference: guests enjoy a quiet, spacious, and elegant salon, free from kitchen noise and activity, an atmosphere comparable to a luxury villa at sea.
  • Stability: Twin hulls dramatically reduce rolling at anchor and while cruising.
  • Space: Catamarans offer a much larger deck and living area for the same length.
  • Privacy: Cabins are distributed in separate hulls, giving guests more independence.

The result: an unmatched blend of luxury, comfort, and freedom.

Because it combines the space of a villa, the efficiency of a power vessel, and the stability of twin hulls, all wrapped in the style and freedom of yachting at its finest.
